Nepal is the base-camp for Enlightened Globetrekker humanitarian projects.

Ancient Buddhist structures, candlelight meditation with butter lamps in monasteries, eating meals with monks, trekking the Himalayas, local homestays, meeting with village Shamans, leaders, and families, jungle treks, canoeing sacred rivers, visiting a village school, Everest flight, cooking and dancing with tribal women, shopping in Kathmandu, yoga outside in the misty morning Himalayan air, ancient Buddhist structures, sunrise over Himalayan peaks, sleeping in monasteries, amazing friendships, humanitarian opportunities, beautiful nature, incredible smiling faces. Day 1/October 18: Depart from international departure cities (departing on the evening of October 17th, or on the 18th)

Day 2/October 19: Arrival in Kathmandu. Our driver will meet you at the airport and bring you to hotel. Rest and recover from your journey to Nepal (jet lag, day time difference from travel). Dinner at hotel. Evening rooftop yoga/candlelight meditation for all those who have arrived by then. Overnight in Kathmandu city hotel.

Day 3/October 20: Rooftop yoga overlooking Kathmandu. Welcome breakfast. Opening circle. Walking tour of Kathmandu: Thamel to Ason to Durbar Square, home of Hindu’s living goddess, Kumari. Drive to the famous Monkey Temple (Swyambhunath temple). See the monkeys! Enjoy the spectacular Kathmandu city skyline view from the top of Shyambhunath. Drive to Boudha Stupa. Dinner out at an authentic Nepali restaurant with a cultural show. Overnight in Kathmandu city hotel.

Day 4/October 21: Rooftop yoga. Breakfast. Trek to Namobuddha Tibetan Buddhist Monastery, visit the monastery.  Enjoy dinner with the monks. Candlelight Meditation on the monastery rooftop under millions of stars (Very powerful!!) Overnight in monastery guesthouse.

Day 5/October 22: Attend morning monk prayers and chants in monastery (Puja). Breakfast with monks. Monastery rooftop yoga. Meet with the head monk (Lama), tour the monastery grounds guided by monks, and enjoy general immersion with the monastery monks, asking any questions, etc. Spend a relaxing morning in the monastery. Drive to Kaule, our remote mountain village camp overlooking the Himalayan valley. Dinner at camp. Overnight in tents on the mountain.

Day 6/October 23: Yoga on the mountainside. Breakfast at camp. Spend the day in Kaule village immersed in local Nepalese village life. Visit the local village school, meeting with school officials and interaction with students. Learn about our humanitarian project at the school. Team members can even try teaching a portion of a class if they would like. Trek through terraced rice fields to village leader and shaman’s house. House visit and tea with the family in their sustainable earth bag home. Learn about village politics, farming, lifestyle, and his role as a traditional Shaman. Dinner at camp. Candlelight meditation on the mountainside. Remote Himalayan tent camping.

Day 7/October 24: Mountainside yoga. Camp breakfast. Drive all day to Pokhara, trekker’s paradise. Lunch in Bandipur. Explore Bandipur village. Continue onto Pokhara. Dinner at hotel upon arrival. Rooftop candlelight meditation. Overnight in hotel.

Day 8/October 25: Rooftop yoga. Hotel breakfast. Relaxing boat ride across the Phewa Lake to a Hindu temple. Free afternoon for shopping/adventure activities of choice in Pokhara. Candlelight dinner and cultural show out at Lakeside. Overnight in hotel.

Day 9/October 26: Rooftop yoga. Hotel breakfast. Trek to Dumpus Point for lunch, enjoying the magnificent Himalayan vista, and stopping in local homes for tea on the trail. Trek onwards to Australia Camp (6,000ft) on the beautiful Himalayan Annapurna Trail. Dinner at Australia Camp. Overnight in tents overlooking the Himalayan Valley. Candlelight meditation under the stars.

Day 10/October 27: Up early for sunrise on the Himalayan range. Mountaintop yoga. Breakfast. Trek down to Dumpus Point. Lunch. Drive to Chitwan National Jungle Park in southern Nepal for Tharu Homestay Retreat. Dinner upon arrival at Tharu. Evening campfire. Overnight in Tharu Retreat Center.

Day 11/October 28: Yoga. Breakfast. Village walking tour. Canoe ride on Rapti River spotting rhinoceros and alligators. 4WD Jungle safari spotting monkeys. Lunch and relax at retreat center. Cultural immersion with villager men and women: help them to cook dinner, dress up, dance, and eat with them. Enjoy their cultural dance. Overnight in Tharu Retreat Center.

Day 12/October 29: Yoga. Breakfast. Drive to Kathmandu. Lunch along the way at a hillside restaurant. Dinner in hotel. Rooftop candlelight meditation. Overnight in Kathmandu hotel. Optional night out in Kathmandu.

Day 13/October 30: Rooftop Yoga. Hotel Breakfast. Free day in Kathmandu for shopping, relaxing. Closing circle. Night out together in Kathmandu celebrating Diwali Festival! Overnight in Thamel downtown district, Kathmandu hotel.

Day 14/October 31:: Breakfast. International flights. (Transportation to airport provided.) Optional adventure extra: Mountain flight to Mount Everest early in the morning.

Please Note: If any team members on this retreat would like to extend their stay in Nepal after the retreat ends to do humanitarian work in our village, Enlightened Globetrekker will place you in a homestay or in our village volunteer house for anywhere from 1 week up to 6 months. Positions needed in the village that we sponsor are: teaching English, helping in the fields, helping to reconstruct homes lost in the earthquakes, and working on sustainable village agro-forestry and earth bag home building projects.
